St. Ethelreda School

Parent Organizations

PTO

The mission of the St. Ethelreda Parent Teach Organization (PTO) is to establish a close relationship between home and school by advancing opportunity for all parents to become involved in the St. Ethelreda School community.

Eagle pride! The PTO sponsors assistance to teachers in classroom setting, raises funds for supplemental educational materials and experiences, supports school and family social interaction, and provides a non-biased forum for sharing information on issues that impact our children.

It is our belief that the team effort of a parent teacher organization offers the best possible learning environment for our children.

Our PTO President is Mrs. Lillian Frazier. She encourages all St. Ethelreda parents and guardians to joins the PTO. Please read Mrs. Frazier's welcome letter:

You can direct your PTO comments and questions to Mrs. Frazier at lfrazier@stethelreda.org. The PTO usually meets once each month. You can look for notices here at the web site or in material sent home from the school. Participate and make St. Ethelreda a better place for your children!

PTO Room Parent Program

One of the PTO's most important activities is the Room Parent Program. With this program, you as a parent work directly with a teacher to improve the classroom experience of their students. The role of Room Parent includes:

  1. Help with classroom parties
  2. Work with other parents to donate needed classroom supplies
  3. Involve other parents in teacher appreciation projects

Please read the full description of the Room Parent Program in the following documents:

Being a Room Parent is a great way to get more involved in your child's education. It also happens to be one of the more fun ways to participate as a parent as well.

PTO Fund-Raising

Fund-raising is an important part of the PTO's charter. Money from PTO activities is used to purchase classroom supplies and other material needed by students and teachers.

The Ultra Foods Fund-Raiser is an important PTO-sponsored event. From Oct 1, 2007 through the end of the year, Utlra Foods is donating 5% of total receipts from puchases made at the store to St. Ethelreda's educational fund. Here are some more details about this important program:

  • Shop at Ultra Food and Save your receipts!
  • Then, bring your Ultra Foods receipts to St. Ethelreda School; there's a bin for receipts located outside Principal Spells' office.
  • Ultra Foods is located at 3250 W. 87th Avenue in Chicago.
  • Ultra Foods web site is www.ultra-foods.com
  • The details of the program are described here: Ultra Foods Fund-Raiser (PDF PDF file)

Ultra Foods' location is shown on the Google Map below. Hurry out to Ultra Foods and save your receipts!

Booster Club

The St. Ethelreda Booster Club is a parent organization that was formed in 2005 with the goal of securing funds to support St. Ethelreda’s athletic program. Our fundraising efforts provide financial assistance for our football, basketball, track, and cheerleading teams.

The goals of the St. Ethelreda Booster Club are:

  • To encourage and recognize excellence in academics, physical fitness and character;
  • To foster pride in the St. Ethelreda school athletic program;
  • To encourage positive communication and unity between players, parents, faculty, coaches and the community;
  • To encourage parental involvement;
  • To supplement the athletic program’s budget; and
  • To provide an end-of-the-sports-season ceremony including awards for student athletes

Among our most popular fundraising efforts are our annual All-School Walkathon and our Post-Valentine’s Day Steppers set. The Booster Club meets at 6:00pm on the third Wednesday of every month when school is in session. See the school calendar for exact dates and times.
