In Memory of Mr. Carter

A new angel has arrived in heaven. Mr. Carter, beloved music teacher at St. Ethelreda, passed away on Friday February 22, 2008. Mr. Carter was music teacher at St. Ethelreda for 14 years.

Principal Spells notes of Mr. Carter:
"We will truly miss Mr. Carter and the gift that God gave him to arrange, compose and direct songs and programs for us. For fourteen years he shared his talent with us through Christmas plays, Black History programs, the Passion Play, family and weekday Masses, choir and general music classes. Today the students shared their fondest memories with each other as they remembered Mr. Carter in their own special way."

Services for Mr. Carter will be held Wednesday February 27, 2008 at Holy Name of Mary Church, 11159 S. Loomis. The visitation will be from 5:30-7:00 pm. The funeral Mass will start at 7:00. Students attending the services are asked to wear their school uniforms.

God bless Mr. Carter, and our prayers to his family.

Please also send your prayers to Principal Spells and her family as well, with the passing Friday of her mother-in-law, Martha Ann Spells. She has also joined the choir of angels.

Leadership Class at St. Ethelreda

The Leadership Class at St. Ethelreda meets after school twice a month. Mrs. Pass and Mrs. Johnson are the faculty leaders of the group of 36 students. The class works on leadership skills and developing strength through Bible reading and discussions.

For Thanksgiving this year, seven students in the Leadership Class received gift cards and throws which some of the students directed to their grandparents or other family members. The senior students in the Leadership class were honored in the last meeting as well.

You can see more photos of the Leadership Class below. As a bonus, Christmas decorations found around the halls of St. Ethelreda are also included.
