Harold Washington Dedication This Friday

On Friday November 30th, St. Ethelreda will dedicate our school hall to Harold Washington, former mayor of Chicago.

The ceremony will be in memory of Mayor Washington's passing 20 years ago this week. You can be an asset to our youth by sharing your memories of Harold, the first African-American mayor of Chicago.

The dedication of Harold Washington School Hall will begin at 10:00am at the school. St. Ethelreda parents and friends are welcome and encouraged to attend.

Following the dedication, there will be a discussion of the inspirational book "Finding the Good" by Lucas L. Johnson. As part of St. Ethelreda's "Meet the Author" program, Mr. Johnson will be signing copies of his book after the discussion.

We do hope that you can join us for these two historic occasions.

Our New Doors

Please welcome the new-look St. Ethelreda School. We replaced our front doors last month. It's just one of a number of capital improvements we're making. Select the photo set below to see.

It was a wonderful, positive day. Students, faculty, parents, everyone really showed their St. Ethelreda spirit! The students walked, sang, and danced. Faculty members and parents visited local businesses along the way spreading the word about St. Ethelreda School.

Lend-A-Shoulder Day, PTO and Booster Club meetings

The upcoming week promises to be busy one!

Two important parent meetings will be held this week:

• The PTO will meet Tuesday October 23, 2007 at St. Ethelreda School from 6:30 - 7:30 pm. Here's an official meeting notice from Mrs. Frazier:

• The Booster Club will meet Wednesday October 24, 2007 at St. Ethelreda School. And, congratulations to the Booster Club on a great Walk-A-Thon last week!
  

On Friday October 26, St. Ethelreda School will be participating in the 8th annual Lend-A-Shoulder Day. This is truly a special honor for our school!

Lend-A-Shoulder Day is sponsored each year by the Big Shoulders Fund. On this day, members of the Big Shoulders Fund visit selected schools in the morning. Our visitors will be leaders of Chicago's corporate and civic community.

During this morning visit, we will be showcasing our unique school and talented students. Lend-A-Shoulder Day is an opportunity for us to foster relationships with these special visitors from the Big Shoulders Fund. These relationships are vital to keeping St. Ethelreda strong now and in the future.

All-School Walk-A-Thon... Thursday October 18!

The St. Ethelreda Booster Club is proud to announce their first fund-raiser of the year, the All-School Walk-A-Thon!
