Mrs. Leonard is new to St Ethelreda this year. She has her 5th graders working hard on a writing assignment in these photos. Mrs. Leonard is a great addition to the faculty, and she is already having a big impact on our school.

First Day of School 2008!

The first day of school... always exciting another great year at St. Ethelreda begins. Principal Spells starts the year with a prayer circle including all students, faculty and parents.

Back to School!

St. Ethelreda is back to school...
Monday August 25
with a full school day
that starts at 7:50 am

We'll start the new school year with a prayer circle for the entire school led by Principal Spells. Parents are encouraged to join the students and faculty for this inspirational start to the year.

Back to School Rally!

We are having a party Saturday August 23rd at St Ethelreda to celebrate the beginning of another exciting school year. Here are the details:
  • When: Saturday August 23, from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm
  • Where: St Ethelreda School at 87th and Paulina
  • Why: To celebrate the beginning of another successful school year!
  • Who: Parents, students, faculty, and new families interested in seeing our school are all invited for this fun gathering
  • What: We'll have free food and drinks and prizes... the St Ethelreda faculty will be available for tours of the school and to discuss the education the St Eth provides our students.
This will be a wonderful event to kick off the new school year. Here's a flier currently being distributed:



Important Back-to-School Information

Principal Spells welcomes all parents and students to St. Ethelreda for the 2008-2009 school year in her welcome letter. This letter contains important information for starting the school year off right.


Supply lists for the new school year are now available for all grades:



EAGLE1 Program Back for 2008-09

St Ethelreda will again be sponsoring the EAGLE1 scholarship and referral program in the 2008-09 school year. EAGLE1 has two components:
  1. Scholarships of up to two months tuition are available to new families.
  2. Referral bonuses of up to one month tuition are available to current/existing families who recruit a new family to St. Ethelreda.

We are sending a postcard mailer to enrolled families before the school year as a reminder of EAGLE1 and other exciting things happening (like our new computer lab) at St Ethelreda this coming year:

Of course, the Class of 2008 was front and center on the last day of the 2008 school year. We also celebrated with the graduating preschool and kindergarten classes. Hey, it was the last day of school... everyone celebrated!

The 2008 graduation ceremony was held Saturday June 14 in the old St. Ethelreda church. Principal Spells, the faculty and the 8th grade class worked hard to get the old building in shape. They did a marvelous job.

St. Ethelreda School provides an excellent Catholic, spiritual, and academic program for its students. Our motto is "Educating Tomorrow's Leaders Today", and many of our graduates continue on to attend the finest Catholic high schools across Chicago.
