Harold Washington Dedication This Friday

On Friday November 30th, St. Ethelreda will dedicate our school hall to Harold Washington, former mayor of Chicago.

The ceremony will be in memory of Mayor Washington's passing 20 years ago this week. You can be an asset to our youth by sharing your memories of Harold, the first African-American mayor of Chicago.

The dedication of Harold Washington School Hall will begin at 10:00am at the school. St. Ethelreda parents and friends are welcome and encouraged to attend.

Following the dedication, there will be a discussion of the inspirational book "Finding the Good" by Lucas L. Johnson. As part of St. Ethelreda's "Meet the Author" program, Mr. Johnson will be signing copies of his book after the discussion.

We do hope that you can join us for these two historic occasions.

Ultra Shopping For St. Ethelreda

When you shop at Ultra Foods this holiday season, you'll be helping our school. St. Ethelreda parents, families and friends are encouraged to shop at Ultra Foods this holiday season as part of our PTO's Ultra Foods Fund-Raiser.

From now through December 31, Ultra Foods will donate 5% of your shopping dollars back to St. Ethelreda. So, please take your shopping list to Ultra Foods and remember these three magic words: Save Your Receipts!

Save Your Receipts and bring them to St. Ethelreda. A bin for Ultra Foods receipts is located just outside Principal Spells' office. Ultra Foods will donate 5% of our receipt tally to St. Ethelreda at year's end. This will be a great fund-raiser for our school!

Our New Doors

Spotlight Class: 7th Grade!

Our second Spotlight Class is Ms. Pittman's 7th grade class. Ms. Pittman is also a new teacher at St. Ethelreda School.

Spotlight Class: 7th Grade

Ms. Pittman grew up in Chicago and became a teacher because of "a desire to help younger people understand the importance of education." She enjoys the presence of faith and religion at St. Ethelreda: "Children need religion." Ms. Pittman receives a $50 gift certificate for school supplies at the Classmate store.
