Harold Washington Dedication This Friday

On Friday November 30th, St. Ethelreda will dedicate our school hall to Harold Washington, former mayor of Chicago.
Boy at school
The ceremony will be in memory of Mayor Washington's passing 20 years ago this week. You can be an asset to our youth by sharing your memories of Harold, the first African-American mayor of Chicago.

The dedication of Harold Washington School Hall will begin at 10:00am at the school. St. Ethelreda parents and friends are welcome and encouraged to attend.

Following the dedication, there will be a discussion of the inspirational book "Finding the Good" by Lucas L. Johnson. As part of St. Ethelreda's "Meet the Author" program, Mr. Johnson will be signing copies of his book after the discussion.

We do hope that you can join us for these two historic occasions.

You can read "Finding the Good" before meeting the author on Friday.

For St. Ethelreda students, faculty, and staff, there are at least 3 copies of "Finding the Good" currently available in our library. Just ask Mrs. Hannah about checking out this excellent book.

I attended the event and all that I can say is AWESOME!!! It is a first at St.Ethelreda, and very uncommon for ethnic schools in urban areas. Hats off to the people who worked together to make this an awe inspiring event, that will leave a most memorable mark on the lives of those that attended.
